**Update!!** Be sure to check back on my blog every day in October for a coordinating printable and links to awesome treats and activities!!! They go right along with the advent!!
Ok, can I just tell you how excited I am about this?!?! I know that this year I've been working on 4th of July and that LAST year was my Halloween year, but considering the fact that it's not even the last week of September and I already have to hear, "Is tomorrow Halloween, mom?"- I decided to go ahead and make an advent calendar. And since I still have a ton of 4th of July stuff to do, it had to be EASY. So this is where you get the good stuff!! I made a tutorial for you AND it includes a printout!!!
You like? It's easy, I promise. Heck, I have thought about re-naming my blog The Lazy Crafter, lol!!
Alright, here's what you'll need:
2 pcs 12x12 cardstock
PDF file of the advent pieces, which you can download HERE
Scissors
Stapler
Razor
Ribbon
First, print out the PDF. Then head over to Summertime Designs to thank her profusely for her amazing talent that she shares for free. And, if you want to go the extra cute mile, download her "Fangs for the Memories" digiscrap kit.
Alright, got that printed? Fantastic! Cut out the hat/tabs. If you downloaded the kit, print out one of the coordinating papers and trace the hat/tabs. Glue the patterned paper on the back. I haven't done this yet, but I wish I would have.
Now get out your cardstock, a pencil, and your razor
This is the most tedious part, but even then, it's not so bad. Starting at the top, measure out the width of the tab part (being careful to leave room for the overhang part of the hats). Then take a straight edge to mark a line. Just use your good judgement and keen eye to space out the marks. You don't want to cover the back lines of the hats, but you also want to be able to fit all 31 hats on one page. Use a razor to slice across the line.
Insert the tab part of the hat/tabs
Put the back piece of cardstock on the back. Staple it on.
Cut the ribbon to the length you want it. Remember that it will be the hanger. Tuck it between the two pieces of cardstock and staple it on.
Embellish the front however you'd like. I'm too cheap and too impatient to do anything extra fancy to it, but I did use another embellishment from Summer Driggs' kit to spruce it up. I did play with it, though. Hers doesn't have the yellow around it. I added it because I am too lazy to cut out the details.
I hope this helps you have a Happy Halloween!!! Don't forget to leave some love!
